Hidden Lake Trail

Look at what you may run into on this hike! Mountain goats call this area home and can be seen in this area.

It's no wonder why Hidden Lake Trail is a popular hike in Glacier National Park. The trail features spectacular alpine meadows, wildlife, views from every direction of mountains and lakes, and even snowfields! The trailhead is located on the backside of the Logan Pass Visitor Center. If you want an easy hike, stop at the Overlook (2.6 miles), or continue to Hidden Lake, which is considered a moderate hike and is 5.4 miles.

Experience the striking beauty of Hanging Gardens, an alpine meadow surrounding this trail. The wildflowers carpet the entire mountainside and are an explosion of color that is breathtaking. At the Overlook, you are greeted with amazing views of mountains. Wildlife is abundant in this area. Watch out for mountain goats and bighorn sheep as they walk along the path without care. Be safe and keep your distance from the wildlife.

Shortly after passing the Overlook, you can continue on the trail to Hidden Lake. The route gets steeper as you get closer to the lake. At the lakeshore, you can explore the beach and the glacially carved lake.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the magnificent beauty of your surroundings!
